Motorists to pay toll on Latar from Sept 1

The Star 30.08.2011 - KL-KUALA SELANGOR Expressway Bhd (KLSEB), the concessionaire for the new Latar Expressway, has announced that toll charges will commence for users from 12.01am on Sept 1.

Each direction on the Latar Expressway features three toll plazas, allowing motorists driving cars a minimum toll fee of RM2 for immediate connectivity, RM4 for mid-way connectivity or RM6 for full connectivity over the entire 33 km of the expressway. Motorists are advised to provide exact change to facilitate faster traffic flow at the toll plazas.

For easier and smoother payment of tolls, SmarTag and TouchN’Go lanes have been provided in addition to the normal cash payment lanes and Latar Expressway encourages motorists to make full use of the electronic lanes.

Latar Expressway has four interchanges that provide ready access to the west coast via Kuala Lumpur at Templer’s Park, the Plus North-South Highway, and via the Guthrie Corridor Expressway. These expressways form a network to facilitate connectivity from Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam and the townships it serves.

The townships include Kuala Selangor, Assam Jawa, Ijok, Bestari Jaya (Batang Berjuntai), Kota Puteri, Puncak Alam, Bukit Jelutong, Sungai Buloh, Kundang, Rawang and Selayang.

Users of the expressway may also top-up TouchN’Go cards at two of its toll plazas — Kuang East and Kuang West — with effect from Sept 1.

The top-up lanes will be open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm from Monday to Friday.

KLSEB, formerly known as Lebuhraya Assamjawa Taman Rimba Bhd (Latar), was incorporated in 1996. KLSEB is a subsidiary of Bina Puri Holdings Bhd (50%) and Rafulin Holdings Sdn Bhd through its wholly-owned subsidiary Arena Irama Sdn Bhd (50%).

Construction of the Latar Expressway commenced in 2008 when a supplemental concession agreement was signed with the Works Ministry on Feb 28, 2008.

The Company has a 40-year concession on the Latar Expressway.

The concession was awarded on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) scheme in which KLSEB is responsible to finance, design, construct, operate and maintain the expressway.
